The pace of authoritarianism in America has quickened — and the danger is no longer hypothetical. Across the country, we are watching right-wing leaders dismantle democratic norms in plain sight. In Texas, the ruling party has twisted the redistricting process beyond recognition, carving maps to guarantee Republican dominance for years to come, regardless of the voters’ will. In Washington, D.C., the federal takeover of local law enforcement strips away the city’s right to self-govern, sending a clear message: when democracy gets in the way of their agenda, they will simply rewrite the rules
That is why we must speak out now, loudly and visibly. This Saturday, join neighbors, activists, and concerned citizens in Abingdon from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM for Fight the Trump Takeover, a peaceful protest demanding an end to these anti-democratic schemes. Bring your signs, your voice, and your determination to defend the principles this country was built on.
